The Crackle Queen workshop with Sharon Peterkin

Have a “crack” at various methods and create a painting with the magic of crackle.

Join us at ‘The Art House’ for a masterclass with visiting Perth Artist, Sharon Peterkin.

We’ll have tea, coffee, some snacks, and a cosy space ready for you to enjoy your learning experience. Feel free to bring a plate to share. Golden Mile Art has sponsored the cost of all tickets to our community with the support of the city of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

Here’s a little message from Sharon about what to expect.

‘The Crackle Queen’ is a name my work colleagues gave me as I seem to have developed a bit of a reputation for understanding the medium that creates a crazed (or crackle) surface.

Just how a bowl may have a crackled finish in the glaze….Japanese pottery often uses this effect.

I love to use this fab effect in my own work and there are definitely some tricks in getting it just right.

During this 3 hour workshop, I’ll be demonstrating the different ways to use this medium and how it can be applied to your work.

You’ll be having a “crack” at each of the methods and creating your own examples for future reference.

We’ll begin a little painting where we will use the different effects that you’ve learned.

You’ll go home armed with a wealth of information and the benefit of the many years of experimentation that I have done to get it right.

We’ll use some special acrylic paper to practice on and then we’ll create a painting to try your new skills on.

You can use one of my drawings or create your own unique artwork.
