‘Spiritus Recentes,’ is a 30-metre stainless steel sculpture reflecting the surrounding coastline and is a combination of metal, rock and glass.
Located at the entrance of the Esperance Health Campus, the sculpture took 18 months to create with the assistance of Esperance based artist Lyndel Taylor and their children Isobel and Calypso and glasswork made by Esperance based artist Steve Cook.
Designed by Esperance based artist Phil Shelton of Green Frog Studios, the sculpture was unveiled at the official opening of the maternity and day surgery facilities in December 2016.
The artwork was commission by the Goldfields Health Service as commissioned by the Goldfields Health Service through the Percent for Art Scheme, as part of the $31.3 million redevelopment of Esperance hospital.
