Description

The town’s name is derived from the local Aboriginal word for ‘windy place,’ and it is home to the traditional stories and customs of the Martu people.

Established in 1898, the town of Wiluna sits 966km northeast of Perth and acts as the gateway to the Canning Stock Route and Gunbarrel Highway.

The Shire offices are situated in what was once the local pub and the building still holds the beauty of its day.  This heritage-listed building was built in 1933, replacing the original hotel on this site.
