The bronze seals and seagulls were designed and created by Esperance-based artists Chris Siemer and Dan Gentle, with the simulated rock base designed and created by Hans Spengler.

The sculpture consists of 4 bronze seals and 3 bronze seagulls attached to a simulated rock and surrounded by a circular pond.

The ‘Seal & Seagull Rock Roundabout’ sculpture situated at the end of Andrew Street on the Esplanade was commissioned by the Shire of Esperance.

Chris Siemer has lived in Esperance since 1956. In 1992 Chris built a studio where he incorporated a foundry to develop his interest in working with bronze. He partnered with Dan Gentle to run the business Esperance Art Castings and has produced many public artworks in Esperance and further afield.
