Lake Lefroy is a massive salt lake, usually dry and smooth making it the perfect place for Land Sailing.
This fun sport doesn’t require much experience but it does heed the ‘safety first’ precautions. When conditions are right, speeds can be over 100kph can be reached.
Land sailing started in Kambalda at the start of the gold rush, in the 1890s.
A variety of homemade and factory-made yachts, windsurfer skateboards, in fact anything with a sail can be used to sail around the lake.
Access is free and there is sailing year-round.
