Description
The ‘Business Hotspot’ is a public artwork created by Finnish artist Tea Makipaa in the Cape Le Grande National Park in April 2014 as part of the ‘Spaced 2: Future Recall’ Artist-in-Residence project with IASKA, DADAA and the Cannery Arts Centre.
Business Hotspot, now on display in the Cannery Arts Centre Windgarden, was a free wifi hotspot temporarily installed at Cape Le Grande, so visitors could access the internet, enabling them to send messages and images and search for information about the Park while in this remote location.
The residency explored the complex relationship between humans and native fauna, based on the idea that the value of native animals is largely ignored because they are ‘voiceless stakeholders of their own natural environment.’
