Tjaltjraak (Esperance) Mural

Description

The title of this painting ‘Tjaltjraak’ is the local Aboriginal word for Esperance.

Located at the Esperance Police Station, the mural ‘Tjaltjraak’ (pronounced Dul-u-rak) by Esperance based Nyungar artist Atheleen Thomas is the second mural produced from the cross-cultural ‘Deadly Nyungar’ art project.

The original mural is located at the Cannery Arts Centre. Completed in 2016, the mural was funded by the Esperance Nyungar Aboriginal Corporation (ENAC) and the State Government through the Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission (GEDC).

This is site 75 on the Esperance Arts and Culture Trail map.
