This 300km scenic trail links Norseman and Hyden, offering travellers shaded rest stops and woodland experiences along the way.
The bushland along the road is constantly changing from Mallee shrub, to a diversity of eucalypt species, woodlands, granite outcrops, vast salt lakes and an array of seasonal wildflowers.
The trail offers 16 sites to stop and explore, most of which contain walk trails, picnic or camping areas. Highlights of the trail include Wave Rock situated 4km out of Hyden, the Breakaways with camping and picnic areas surrounded by a serene backdrop and Disappointment Rock with a 2km walk trail to explore.
The trail stretches from Mort Harslett Drive here in Norseman, travels through the Norseman-Hyden Road to finish at Wave Rock in Hyden. The road is unsealed gravel but in good condition and suitable for all vehicles including those towing, provided an acceptable speed and caution is taken.
Travelling this trail will typically take most people 1-2 days if stopping at each site.
Weather, road maintenance, and fire can cause the road to close. All travellers should contact the Shire of Dundas and the Shire of Kondinin for the latest road conditions before embarking on their journey.
