Stop and see the Camel Roundabout, a tribute to Norseman’s history.
Camel trains were once used to bring freight and mail to and from Norseman. The roads were made wide, ensuring the teams of camels were able to turn.
The roads remained wide when modernised with bitumen thus retaining this part of history.
Flash forward to present day Norseman and you see the tribute to this interesting piece of history sitting in the middle of the Prinsep Street roundabout, the corrugated iron sculptures, the camels.
Be sure to read the interpretive boards that are located on the corner of the Old Post Office and out the front of the Town Hall which tells you more about the Camel story.
