Menzies Shire Office and Town Hall

24 Shenton Street, Menzies
Western Australia

Description

Architects and builders C Robert Arnott and Charles W Arnott designed and built the front left side of the Town Hall and Shire Offices in 1896.

Since then, several extensions have been added – in 1900/01, Council Chambers, administration offices, a public library and a reading room, with the Town Hall located at the rear of the building was added at the cost of ₤3,000.

Between 1985 and 1988 the front section was completely renovated and restored, while the rear was rebuilt in 1991 with further renovations completed in 1999.

Still in use today the building is always busy as the Shire staff go about their work, and the town comes together to celebrate events in the Town Hall.
