More than just mulga – this loop trail is your introduction to a fascinating natural environment, and to the human influences that have shaped it over the last hundred years.
Take a trip through the many and varied landscapes of the north-east goldfields – from dramatic breakaways, to samphire flats and salt lakes, and from vast mulga plains to magnificent marble gum on spinifiex sands.
This trail at almost 350kms, is a long days outing. It is designed to be travelled in a clockwise direction.
Each stop on the loop is signposted and you’ll meet some quirky cut out figures who will tell you stories of times gone by.
Note that 70% of this trail is gravel. Although this is generally a good quality trail, it can suffer after rain so it’s recommended that you travel in a 4 wheel drive to complete the journey.
Due to the remoteness of the trail we suggest that you check the latest road conditions with the Shire before setting out on this journey and that you pick up the Leonora Loop Trail flyer from the Information Centre. The flyer provides important preparation and safety information that will ensure you have a smooth experience.
