In April 2010, a 5.0 magnitude earthquake struck Kalgoorlie-Boulder, devastating a lot of the buildings in Burt Street. The local council and state government spent more than $8 million to restore the buildings and the facades, and several years later the works were completed.
Historic Burt Street is now a hive of activity again, with several cafes, coffee shops and speciality stores lining the street, as well as the iconic Boulder Town Hall, popular pubs and restaurants.
