Boondi Rock is a water catchment site for the early-settler steam trains.
Located about 80km west of Coolgardie, just off the Great Eastern Highway, you can see how they used large slabs of granite in the early days to channel the water off the rocky outcrop into a dam.
Boondi Rock is an excellent area for bird watching, and a hiking trail will take you to the quarry where the granite slabs were sourced.
Boondi Rock is a part of the Greater Western Woodlands.
